Elements of a Hardscape

One way to get your hardscaping project underway is to communicate with our hardscape design team the elements of a hardscape you want. Our team of designers will then use that info to draft out a beautiful hardscape design plan.

We thought we'd put together a list of some of the more popular, trademark hardscape elements so that you can take start to visualize their application in your yard!

Retaining Walls

Retaining walls are often designed for both practical and aesthetic reasons. As you can see from the picture on the right, hardscapes can be quite pretty. Whether you need the wall to separate a path from the hill on the side of your house, or you just think they are cool looking, Ground Source's hardscape team can help.

Patios

Patios are excellent ways to improve the outdoor livability of the home. Once a patio hardscape is installed, you'll notice your family spending more time outside, sitting in lawn chair or a patio table. Not to mention, anyone with a backyard patio hardscape knows the patio is backyard party central.

Arbors/Trellises

Arbors and trellises will transform any backyard into a magical place. The trellis just has that classic backyard look that enchants any backyard. Once a trellis or arbor hardscape is installed, you can plant ivy, or grapes near it, and watch the plants ascend over the hardscape, giving it even more beauty.

Paver Driveway

Are you sick of your asphalt or macadam driveway? Want to upgrade to something a little nicer to look at? How about a paver driveway ! Paver driveways are the belles of the driveway ball. If you are considering a paver driveway, keep in mind that there are loads of colors, shapes, and patterns to choose from. Not every paver driveway looks like the one pictured.

Stone Path

Stone paths, like the one pictured, are great hardscapes for homes with space around the exterior of the house. Rather than walk through mud, a stone path gives you a stable and secure walkway around your house. These are particular great for people who need some sort of stable outdoor footing, but don't want to ruin the natural look of their exterior with a concrete sidewalk.

Note: a paver path is always an option too!
