What to Consider When Installing Pavers Around a Pool

Orlando landscape design Step one: get a pool! Now that you have something to cool off in during the brutal Orlando summers, you'll probably want to make it look pretty. Adding pavers to your backyard pool is an excellent way to make any yard look more sophisticated, but there are a few things you have to consider before installing pavers around a pool in Orlando:
Materials

Materials partially dictate what your hardscape is going to look like. Varieties of pavers and stones have different colors, textures, and feels. You have to decide what you think will look best next to your house and your pool. You also have to decide what will be most practical. A marble hardscape might look great next to your pool, but marble tends to be very slippery. Concrete pavers may not be the most flashy, but they are affordable, and have a good poolside texture. There are loads of pavers to choose from. Ground Source can help you pick the best paver for your property.

Level Pavers

Nobody wants uneven pavers, but you especially don't want uneven pavers next to a pool. Just imagine how devastating that trip could be. Ground Source has heard the horror stories. To prevent uneven pavers, and to take the guesswork out of leveling ground, let the professionals at Ground Source take care of your paver installation. Leveling and laying pavers are what your the Ground Source hardscaping team does best. Laying pavers is hard work. You don't want to lay pavers incorrectly only to see them popping up a few months later. This part of the project is best left to a professional.

Type of Pool Water

You can install poolside pavers regardless of whether your pool is saltwater or chlorine treated, though you should consider how the salt or chemical will affect the stones. Chlorine most likely won't pose as great of a threat to your pavers as much as salt, with the exception of discoloration. Salt on the other hand can be pretty destructive. Resilient stones aside, there are sealants that you can apply to your pavers to add an extra element of protection.

Maintenance

Aside from sealing your pavers to protect them from pool water, you can take a couple of extra measures to ensure their longevity. Washing your pavers, and occasionally scrubbing them with warm soapy water can help alleviate stains and prevent discoloration. Some stones are more prone to discoloration than others. Additionally, replacing the occasional loose or broken paver will prevent surrounding pavers from shifting and breaking. Finally, if you notice pavers sinking, call your local hardscaping professional immediately as this may be a symptom of a greater problem, such as unleveled ground.

Fencing

Our last recommended consideration is a fence. Do you have small children that you have to worry about near the pool? Maybe your town dictates that your pool must be enclosed? These are concerns that you should voice to your Ground Source hardscape designer. Including a fence in your hardscape design is no problem for the pros at Ground Source, who will plan to include the fence accordingly.
