Floratam St. Augustine

Appearance

Best maintained with a standard rotary mower cutting no more than 1/3 of the leaf blade off per cut, requiring mowing approximately 46 times per the calendar year.  Watering 2- 3 times per week during the warm, dry season.  Grass should be maintained 4"- 4.5" in height.

Watch closely for sod webworms and chinch bugs. Look for signs of fungus.

Seville St. Augustine

Appearance

Dwarf blade, dark green

Sunlight Details

Shade tolerant and accepts as little as two hours of sunlight per day.  Develops thatch if excess sunlight, we generally utilize in shaded areas ONLY.  It should not be utilized in 100% shade, if weeds are not growing and you have bare dirt then sod will not grow, either.

Maintenance Details

It can be cut as low as 3" and as high as 3.5" to achieve maximum health. Fungus can be a major concern in very wet areas. After 4-5 years, tends to build up thatch when planted in direct sunlight.

Empire Zoysia

Maintenance Details

It tolerates mowing as close as 1/2” with good weed competitions ideally as high as 2” to 2-1/2” for home lawns,  Palisades Zoysia will require one to two weekly mowings with a rotary or reel mower at heights ranging from 1/2″ to 7/8″. When utilized for home lawns, the rotary mower will provide quality turf with weekly mowings.

Application of insecticides, fungicides, and herbicides are recommended to aid in the prevention of weeds, insects and disease.

Bahia Argentine

Appearance

Medium green, will have weeds and tends to grow in sparse, will fall often apart off the pallet

• Once established, Bahia can live off rainwater alone
• It requires very little fertilization and pest control.
• Two applications of weed and feed a year may be all it needs
• Do not mow Bahia at low levels, as this reduces its natural tolerance to drought, heat, and insects.
