Are you a newbie when it comes to grass? Not sure what kind of grass could be best for your lawn (or even what all of your options might be)? No problem!

We've compiled a list of different best grass type for your Florida lawn and unique to the climate so you can make an informed decision for you and your lawn.

Bahia- A warm season grass which is grown throughout Florida and the southern United States. It does well with heavy foot traffic, as it forms a thick carpet of grass. It tolerates poor soil conditions well and does not require much fertilizer to stay green and healthy.

Bermuda- This grass is adaptable to several types of soils. It grows well in full sunlight but will also be okay in shade. It requires very little maintenance and is best adapted to hot, dry, or tropical climates. This grass is ideal for homes with children and pets.

Centipede- It is a warm season grass that grows well in full sun. It's able to tolerate high temperatures, but is sensitive to low temperatures and will go dormant if the temperature drops below 55 degrees. It's a good grass for general purpose lawns, but can't withstand heavy wear.

St.Augustine- A warm season grass that is fast growing and low maintenance. It thrives in heat, but goes dormant when the temperature drops below 55 degrees. It's used in all sorts of landscapes from residential, commercial, as well as industrial.

Zoysia- An easy to maintain grass, which is also warm-season. It's meant for hot, humid, tropical climates and can also withstand heavy usage, making it recommended for both residential and commercial lawns. It tolerates heat well, but goes dormant if temperatures drop too low. There are several types of grass that can make your lawn beautiful year round, despite Florida's unique climate.
